(More customer reviews)The bottles fold fairly flat but they perspire A LOT when filled with cold liquids. I set my upright on a sunny window sill to dry them after use (this is the only way to keep them fully expanded), it took 5 days. It seems like having them perpetually wet is a recipe for rampant bacteria and fungal growth. The collapsible feature is offset by the moisture in my backpack and inability to dry them more efficiently. I had a read a glowing review in our newspaper that prompted my purchase and I am disappointed and suspect the reviewer didn't actually use them.

It does seem samller than 16oz, I'd have guessed 12oz
