(More customer reviews)We have this same style thermos, though not this particular design.It is made by Thermos & is similar right down to the oval desing on the lid (actually a rubber-like cover to the regular lid).So, the PROs: Keeps things warm, but they have to be boiling hot for them to be warm by lunch time (ie: filled at 6am & not so warm by lunch).The packaging says it keeps things hot for 5 hours, so I suppose that's our problem-- just shy an hour. Five hours seems amazing considering the sides are so thin; I don't know how it can do this. Hot food items like noodles & chicken nuggest will not be warm by lunch, however, not ice cold.Spagehttios work well as does soup, of course.It holds a good amount of food; enough for a young child (mine are 4 & 6).CONS: our pattern (soccer ball) flaked off within months.Since my kid was holding the thermos & paint flaked off, I ended up helping the process by scrubing off paint so that it didn't end up in his mouth. (I probably should have complained to Thermos; it was on my TO DO list, but never got done.)A possible flaw in the application of the paint as the other Barbie style one I purchased at the same time did not do this.You are not suppose to put these in the dishwasher, however, I found I couldn't always get them perfectly clean, expecially after they were forgotten in a backpack for a weekend!I used to just soak them in hot water, but now occasionally I've run them thru the *top rack*.I haven't found that this harms the seal or anything.However, after a very close inspection one day, I found that even a dishwashing can't get rid of the old food stuck in the inside gasket of the container.Much to my disgust, I was able to use a tooth pick to dig out old moldy food from this inner gasket. This gasket isn't removable, so you just have to inspect the gasket as well as the one on the lid (the lid gasket doesn't seem to harbor as much old food).I have a few really old thermoses that don't have gaskets.While these probably keep the heat in for much less time, they are really easy to clean since there's no where for food to hide. I'm at a loss to find something better than this in an effort to provide my child a hot lunch, so, this product is as close to perfect (though a far cry from it) as I can get.
