(More customer reviews)Bought two of these on sale but have not used them yet (only reason I gave it a 3 star rating so far) so I can't say from experience how they hold up under abuse which is my biggest reservation about aluminum, however my camp-stove fuel bottles are also aluminum and they hold up fine. According to the tag on the bottle, it is 99.70% pure Aluminum.
I saw them at a store and several of them had slight dents in them, I assume from just being shipped from Spain where they are manufactured! So I don't know how well they will hold up compared to a Nalgene or a stainless steel bottle.
The mouth is not as wide as a Nalgene but is wider than the opening on a camp-stove fuel bottle. I have a MSR waterworks water filter that screws onto Nalgene bottles so I will not be able to screw this bottle onto the water filter, not a big deal but it would be nice.
It does have a beige color interior epoxy coating that supposedly will not crack and helps prevent the transfer of metal taste to your water (wash before first use). The color will help you see if its clean or not.
They are supposed to be super light weight. I weighed and compared it (with lid) to a Nalgene bottle and it was lighter but only by about 20 grams. It weighed about 190 grams according to my crappy kitchen scale.
The exterior of the bottle seems to have a rough powder coat that should be easier to grip when wet or with slippery winter gloves. Also it is rectangular and will be easier to grip than a Nalgene if you have small hands. Its about the same size as a brick (much lighter though!)
