The bottle is durable, seals well and the "Kicker" valve, though it takes a little getting used to, is a lot easier than the pop-up type. The Kicker valve also seals fine without pushing it back in, something that isn't true for pop up valves.

I have four of these, two I leave in my travel bag and two I run with regularly at home.

There are two problems. If you use it with any sports drink containing sugar, black mold builds up inside the valve.Running it through the dishwasher may kill it, don't know, but still leaves the black, disgusting residue. I clean it from the top and bottom with dishwashing soapy water and a Q-tip.Sort of a nuisance and it takes about 5 minutes. In winter I don't use sports drinks, but I do for longer warm weather runs.Ultimate Directions website hypes the fact that the valve is welded in place and won't leak.It also can't be disassembled to clean.

The second problem is the zipper on the pocket. After a couple of months, they invariably refuse to move.Haven't figured out why. They don't seem to be broken, just jammed.

Nevertheless, despite the problems, I prefer the valve to other types and will keep using the Ultimate Directions bottle until something better comes along.
