(More customer reviews)I bought these at Costco for fifteen dollars to use for running outside and in the gym, as well as at the beach. This is one of the best purchases that I made.
Each bottle holds 27 oz, yet is more compact and lightweight, and easier to hold, than other water bottles that I have used. The insulated sleeve ensures that my water stays nice and cold. The bottle with the sleeve on fits perfectly into the Nalgene Deluxe Multisize Bottle Carrier (which I have reviewed on Amazon) that I use when running outdoors. I barely know that I am carrying a full bottle of water.
I recently went running and filled the bottle with water from my Poland Spring home water cooler. The water tasted very "clean" when I drank it during my run, with no metallic or other taste of any kind. In fact it tasted better than when I used to drink from my Polar Insulated non-steel water bottle. Note: When I first got these bottles, I rinsed them in the sink with liquid dishwasher detergent and warm water, then rinsed all the soap away with cold water, and let them air dry for 24 hours before using them.
These bottles are great for travel. I can easily pack two bottles in my suitcase for my wife and me to use at our vacation destination since they take up relatively little space and are so light when empty.Let me address the negative comments in some other reviews:
1. Yes, the loop on the lid is too small for a finger, and the strap that secures the spout does not look like it is meant for carrying a full bottle. The easy solution is to buy a carabiner or lanyard to attach to the loop on the lid.
2. Yes, the neoprene sleeve requires some stretching to put it back on if you remove it (or even to put it on for the first time). But it's not really a big deal.
3. Yes, if you "guzzle" the water when drinking you will hear a slight chirping sound. Frankly, when I am running outdoors or in the gym, or relaxing at the beach, nobody is going to notice that. It might be an issue if you are in a library or classroom, but there is an easy solution that I found. When you drink, don't "guzzle" the water, just let it flow out by itself--you won't hear any chirping sound. And of course you can always remove the top and drink straight from the bottle.
Bottom line: This bottle is nice to look at, easy to carry when running, keeps my water cold, great for travel, has no metallic taste, and absolutely does not leak at all (which is a problem with some water bottles). I strongly recommend it. I have used much more expensive water bottles, and for the price would definitely get this bottle if you are in the market for a water bottle.
Update April 21, 2001: I went to my local REI store and bought two large carabiners at a cost of four dollars each. They work perfectly, and are the same size that come with certain REI water bottles, which cost a lot more than this product even including the extra cost for a carabiner.
